Bethenny Frankel: “I hope Bryn’s not so Type A when she grows up, like I am.”

Oct 18, 2011 by

The straight-talking TV star, entrepreneur, and mom of 1 ½-year old daughter Bryn shares her motherhood rules to live by in an
exclusive interview in Parenting magazine’s November issue, on newsstands today.

Highlights include:

·         On cutting herself a break: “I like to think that I’m doing a good job. I’m there for my daughter almost all the time, as much as I possibly can be…That’s all I really care about.”
·         On what she’s learned from being Bryn’s mom: “Bryn’s shown me how to be joyful and to be in the moment, and that things can be so pure.”
·         On keeping things fun: “Bryn and I throw dance parties with our iPod every single day. California Gurls [by Katy Perry] is probably her favorite song.”  (Bryn and Bethenny also love Panic! At the Disco and Pink)
·         On her big wish for Bryn: “I hope Bryn’s not so Type A when she grows up, like I am. I want her to do exactly what she wants, but I hope she doesn’t end up being too complicated.”

Vegetarian children. Do or don’t?

Sep 17, 2011 by

Recently, Bethenny Frankel spoke out about her 15 month old daughter, Bryn being on a vegetarian diet. Do you think it is necessary for young children to get protein and all the health benefits from beef, poultry and fish while they are growing and developing? Or do you think it is ok for children to be put on a vegetarian diet for a more “healthy” lifestyle? Now-a-days everyone is looking towards healthier options and now more than ever there are many different healthy diets to choose from. Here is part of an article from www.HealthyChildren.org .

“Vegetarian diets tend to be high in fiber and polyunsaturated fat, and low in cholesterol and calories.

If your child is following a vegetarian diet, you need to guard against nutritional deficiencies. There are various degrees of vegetarianism, and the strictness of the diet will determine whether your youngster is vulnerable to nutritional shortcomings.

Following are the common categories of vegetarians. Although none eat meat, poultry, or fish, there are other areas in which they vary:

  • Lacto-ovo-vegetarians consume eggs, dairy products, and plant foods.
  • Lacto-vegetarians eat dairy products and plant foods but not eggs.
  • Vegans eat only plant foods, no eggs or dairy products.

Children can be well nourished on all three types of vegetarian diet, but nutritional balance is very difficult to achieve if dairy products and eggs are completely eliminated. Vegetarians sometimes consume insufficient amounts of calcium and vitamin D if they remove milk products from their diet.

Also, because of the lack of meat products, vegetarians sometimes have an inadequate iron intake. They may also consume insufficient amounts of vitamin B-12, zinc, and other minerals. If their caloric intake is also extremely low, this could cause a delay in normal growth and weight gain.”

With all that said I am in no way saying that you shouldn’t choose this for your family but just wanting to educate parents about the different healthy options out there.

So what do you think? Would you consider this for your child/children? Or are you personally a vegetarian? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Mar 15, 2011 by

I jumped of off my couch to grab my camera when I saw a glimpse of what I thought was a Smock Couture dress that Baby Swags had sent to Bethenny Frankel after the birth of her baby girl, Bryn.  I pressed rewind, hit the pause button until I got this up close and personal shot of Bryn being handed off to Bethenny’s assistant, Julie.

Bethenny Frankel: Motherhood has Changed my Life

Jul 22, 2010 by

In an exclusive interview, Reality star Bethenny Frankel was always on the go until she met husband Jason Hoppy, and became mom to daughter Bryn, on May 8. “It’s unbelievable. It’s every cliché, everything everyone tells you,” the Bethenny Getting Married? star gushes about motherhood to Life & Style.

Bethenny’s late-night partying has now been substituted for baby-feeding sessions and designer duds for pajamas. “I breast-feed and pump, and I’d say Bryn eats every three to four hours,” Bethenny tells Life & Style about her and Jason’s tag-team schedule. “He’ll do a feeding at 1 a.m., then I’ll do one at 5 a.m. It’s whoever hears it first, and we don’t try to pretend like we don’t hear it,” she says about Jason, whom she calls an amazing and unbelievable father.

Since the arrival of Bryn, the fiery reality star seems to have finally reached her own place of Zen. “People say that I’m a little softer, a little calmer,” she says. “I’m definitely happier.” Her priorities have certainly shifted since the drama-filled days of nasty castmate catfights and posh red carpet soirees. “There are things you have to have, just a whole other world of things,” Bethenny says about her new splurges, such as Bryn’s stroller, car seat, crib and other necessities. “You don’t buy anything for yourself anymore, and you don’t care… You’re so happy that your body’s back, you’ll wear a garbage bag.”
