“We are so thrilled that our prayers have been answered,” the E! News anchor, 37, announced this morning.
And Bill, 40, couldn’t be any happier himself, adding, “We are absolutely ecstatic to be sharing this with everyone who has been following our journey.”
The couple’s firstborn is due in late summer via a gestational surrogate. The baby will be Giuliana and Bill’s biological child.
“We received an incredible amount of love and prayers from viewers around the world,” Giuliana says, “and we want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for their love.”
The news comes after years of the couple trying to have a baby on their own. In October, Giuliana went through another hardship, announcing that she’d been diagnosed with an early stage of breast cancer. She underwent surgery that month. In December, she decided to undergo a double mastectomy.
But when Life & Style spoke to her earlier this year, Giuliana had nothing but a positive attitude when it came to overcoming breast cancer and to one day having a family.
“We are going to get through this and then, absolutely, we’d love to have a baby — we’re not giving up,” she’s told Life & Style. “When will it happen? Hopefully in 2012, but we need to get the green light. And we are open to everything. We thought about everything, so we’ll see. It will happen, and we will be here again to talk about it. It will happen! This is something that happened for a reason.”
We’re so happy for the both of them. Congratulations!
