After three years and two kids together, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have finally gotten engaged! When a fan spotted Nicole wearing a new ring on her left hand at NYC hotspot Abe & Arthur’s just after 9 pm on Feb. 15, the fan congratulated Nicole and fiancé Joel Madden — who both confirmed the good news. “Thank you,” a beaming Nicole told the fan. Joel echoed the thanks as well. A friend of Nicole’s tells Life & Style, “she’s beyond thrilled and so excited to start planning her dream wedding.”

Mackenzie Phillips on Sister Chynna: “I’ll be there for her”

In the wake of the recent announcement that her half-sister Chynna has entered rehab for an anxiety problem, Mackenzie Phillips tells In Touch exclusively that she will remain by her side. “I love my sister so much. She was there for me, and I am here for her,” the former One Day at a Time actress, and rehab alum, says. When Mackenzie came forth publicly with the shocking revelation that she once had a sexual relationship with their father, the late singer John Phillips, Chynna was a pillar of support. “I pray that we all get closer through this crisis,” the Wilson Phillips singer told Oprah Winfrey at the time, despite some family members’ denials of the accusations. Mackenzie, who is currently battling her longtime drug and alcohol addiction on the third season of VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, is not worried about Chynna’s condition. “She is so very strong and funny. She is going to be just fine, I know it,” she adds. Chynna entered an undisclosed treatment center last weekend “with the full support of her family and friends,” a spokesperson for the star says.

Brad & Angelina bring the kids along for a Valentine’s Day Date

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie put on a stunning display of togetherness when they took their three eldest children for a Valentine’s Day eve dinner at the Benihana restaurant that was a childhood haunt of Angie’s.

“Angie’s been coming in here since she was 2-years-old, an eyewitness at the restaurant tells Life & Style. “She’d come here with her parents and brother and loved to sit at the table and watch the chefs cook her shrimp.”

Bringing her own family recaptured fond memories for Angie. “She came with Brad, Maddox, Pax and Zahara,” says the insider. “She obviously took great joy in re-creating the experience of her childhood as the children enjoyed the spectacle of the food being cooked. They were all smiling and laughing.”

The chef prepared a Valentine’s Day treat by turning the kids’ vegetables into heart shapes, while Angie enjoyed her past favorite, shrimp with vegetables and edamame. Brad had Kobe beef.

“Brad and Angelina looked so happy,” a second witness tells Life & Style. “He stroked her neck and hand, and they kissed several times and looked on proudly as their kids used chopsticks and enjoyed their food.”   The family looked as happy as ever and, says the eyewitness, “completely in love.”

Howard Stern’s wife says her husband is already an Idol Judge -at home!

Radio shock jock Howard Stern is rumored to be a front-runner to replace American Idol judge Simon Cowell. And Howard’s wife, Beth Stern, tells Life & Style she thinks it’s a “brilliant idea.”

“I get the benefit of sitting next to him when he watches American Idol every week,” she tells Life & Style. “And he is so hysterical. He’s brutally honest. He actually roots for the contestants. He’ll say if he thinks they don’t have talent, but he’s a cheerleader for them too.”

Beth tells Life & Style she doesn’t know if Howard — who told his listeners he’d do it “for $100 million” — is really going to try to nab the judge’s chair, which will open up next season. But, Beth adds, “I think he is having fun with the idea!

Debbie Gibson feels sexier than ever!

It’s hard to believe that it has been a whopping 23 years since Debbie Gibson ruled the music charts as a teenage pop princess. After all, with her 40th birthday just around the corner, the star looks hotter than she ever has. And, having recently lost almost 20 pounds thanks to a diet devised by her boyfriend, Dr. Rutledge Taylor, she’s in better shape than many women half her age. “I finally feel like my true self, physically and emotionally,” Debbie tells In Touch. “Everything is in balance. And I feel better naked than I ever have!”

ITW: You look fantastic! But you never appeared to be particularly overweight.
DG: I was always so active, especially when I was busy performing on Broadway. I could eat macaroni and cheese during every intermission, and I wouldn’t gain weight. But my metabolism has definitely slowed down, so some weight came on really fast.

ITW: So why did you want to lose weight?
DG: I was hiding it really well, but I was a good 15 pounds heavier than I wanted to be. People should focus on good health first and foremost, but I realized that I feel best when I’m at my leanest, and I wanted to get a grip on this when I was only a little overweight, as opposed to letting it get away from me. So, I decided to try my boyfriend’s [Dr. Taylor] program, which is called Better Than Lipo.

ITW: How much do you weigh now?
DG: I’m at 114 pounds. I was okay at my previous weight, but I felt like my inner diva did not match my outer diva.

ITW: And how do you feel?
DG: I feel hotter and more in control. It’s even improved my sex life. You shouldn’t get your whole self-worth from how you look, but at 39, I think it’s okay to focus on the outside a bit if it makes you feel good.
